NGAPALI BEACH

How to Get there

Ngapali Beach, located in Rakhine State, is famous for its white sand, clear water, and laid-back atmosphere. The nearest town is Thandwe, which also hosts the local airport.


🛫 By Air – Fastest & Most Reliable

  • Destination Airport: Thandwe Airport (SNW)

  • From Yangon: ~50 min flight

  • From Mandalay or Bagan: Usually requires a transit in Yangon

  • Airlines: Air KBZ, Myanmar National Airlines, Mann Yadanarpon

  • Cost: ~$70–$150 USD (one-way)

🚕 Airport to Beach: 10–20 minutes by hotel shuttle or taxi (most resorts provide free pickup)

Best option – quick, comfortable, and scenic.


🚌 By Bus – Long & Not Recommended (Currently)

  • From Yangon: 14–18 hours (during dry season only; roads are rough and sometimes impassable in rainy season)

  • From Pyay or Taungup: Shorter routes, but still bumpy and difficult

  • Cost: ~$15–$25 USD

  • Risks: Landslides and poor road conditions during monsoon (May–Oct)

⚠️ Not recommended unless you’re adventurous and traveling in dry season.

🚗 By Car – Possible but Challenging

  • From Yangon: ~14 hours by private vehicle (via Pyay and Taungup)

  • Cost: $250–$350+ (one-way)

  • Road Conditions: Narrow, winding, and risky in rainy season

⚠️ Not ideal unless you’re combining with other stops and are used to local driving conditions.


✅ Best Travel Tip:

Flying from Yangon to Thandwe is the safest, most convenient, and widely used method to reach Ngapali Beach. Most resorts offer complimentary airport transfers.
